We invite all whānau members to register with our new Piringa Hapū Trust database. The purpose of the database is to help compile a register of descendants of Ngāti Hinemanu, Ngai Te Ūpokoiri, Ngāti Honomōkai and/or Ngāti Mahuika.

Allows you to vote in trustee elections and have a direct say in decisions that affect you and your whānau.

Registration Validation
Your registration may need to go through a validation process if your name or whānau is unfamiliar to your hapū/marae. This will involve members of a validation committee reviewing your application details and making a decision on your application. If your application is not accepted you have the right to a review of that decision. For those applicants who do not know their hapū/marae an attempt will be made to identify the whakapapa you provide and your linkages to Ngāti Hinemanu, Ngai Te Ūpokoiri, Ngāti Honomōkai and/or Ngāti Mahuika .

Registration– Frequently Asked Questions
What happens with the information I load into the system?
The information is automatically loaded into our member database.
How old do I have to be to register?You must be 18 years + to register.
What about my children?
You can add children under 18 years on the database. When children turn 18 they will automatically be transferred to adult membership.
Why do I have to provide my whakapapa?
Whakapapa information confirms how you whakapapa to Ōmāhu, and assists in verifying your application for registration.
What is your privacy policy in respect of information loaded and the member database?
Te Piringa Hapū has a strict privacy policy that means your details are kept confidential, safe and secure. We do not provide tribal members’ information to any third party. Your information will be securely held in our member database and treated confidentially, no information will be disclosed to third parties without your authorisation except as required by law or with other organisations representing our collective interests. You have the right to view your personal information held on the database, this will occur with a nominated hapū representative and information can be corrected if necessary.
Why must you verify my registration?
Each application for registration must be validated by verifying whakapapa connections, this is a requirement under our Trust Deed. Applications for registration may not be accepted if insufficient or incorrect whakapapa information has been supplied. If there is difficulty with verification of registration details, we will contact you.
